Whistleblowing (Speaking Up)

Version 1.0 · draft for approval

If something is wrong — unsafe care, dishonesty, cover-ups — here is how to raise it, inside or outside the company, with legal protection.

Draft for approval — awaiting formal adoption by the registered manager; not yet in force.

Our promise

If you see something wrong at LuxAmor Care — unsafe practice, neglect, dishonesty, a cover-up — we want to know, even when it is uncomfortable, and especially when it involves someone senior. Raising a genuine concern will never harm your job, your shifts or how you are treated. Retaliating against a whistleblower is itself a disciplinary offence.

The Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998 protects workers who disclose wrongdoing — unsafe care, crime, legal breaches, environmental damage, or concealment of any of these.

How to raise a concern

  • First, wherever possible: your manager, in person, by phone, or in writing.
  • If the concern involves your manager, or nothing changes: the registered manager / director.
  • You can always go outside the company — the Care Inspectorate is a prescribed body for care concerns: 0345 600 9527. For professional-conduct concerns about a registered worker, the SSSC: 0345 60 30 891. You do not need our permission and never need to tell us first.
  • Concerns can be raised confidentially; we will protect your identity as far as the situation allows. Anonymous concerns are acted on too, though they are harder to investigate and we cannot update you.

What happens next

  • We acknowledge your concern, look into it proportionately, and tell you the outcome wherever confidentiality allows.
  • A concern raised in good faith that turns out to be mistaken has zero consequences for you. Knowingly false, malicious allegations are treated as a disciplinary matter.
